HRFWiki2:FAQ
Have any questions? Here are the Frequently Asked Questions on the Homestar Runner Fanstuff Wiki 2. If you have a question, remember to check here first!
We would recommend creating an account and reading the guidelines before sharing your fanstuff. First, you need an idea for your fanstuff. What type will it be? What will it be about? What will the title be? Search for that title to make sure it isn't taken. If it doesn't exist already, go to that page and create it! (Read the next section for information on creating a page.)
If your fanstuff requires multiple pages (for example, if it is an email show or a text adventure), organize these pages as subpages of your fanstuff. If your email show is called "Mr. Bland Emails", and the first email is called "homestar", don't create the page [[homestar]]; instead, create [[Mr. Bland Emails/homestar]]. You can create as many subpages as you want. When you're done, add your fanstuff to one of the fanstuff portals where it belongs.
You must have an account before gaining the ability to create pages. There are several ways to do so:
- One way is to type the name of your page into Special:CreatePage.
- Another is to enter the page title into the URL, after hrfwiki2.miraheze.org/wiki/.
- Another is to search for that page and click on the link if it doesn't exist.
- You can also create a link to it on another page, save the page or show preview, and click on that link.
When you're done, click "Save page". See Help:Editing for information on editing and formatting.
Go to Special:Upload and select the image you want to upload, either from your computer or a URL. Add a filename and a summary, then click "Upload file"!
Anyone can edit the HRFWiki2, even without an account. Unfortunately, this means that people may post spam or deface pages on the wiki. However, removing vandalism is easy. Simply click on the "View history" tab at the top of the page, and click "(undo)" and save the page to delete the edit.
Only sysops can delete articles and images, but there's an easy way for you to alert the sysops to pages that should be deleted. Just edit the article and add {{delete|Add reason here.}}
at the top. If you've done it right, you should see a box like this one at the top of the page:
"Garbage. Garbage. Rubbish. Umm... murder weapon."
This page is currently pending deletion.
Reason: Add reason here.
The code also adds the article to a special "Pages for deletion" category. The sysops check this category regularly and will delete articles and images in it.
Sysops are users with the ability to perform tasks regular users can not, such as editing protected pages, deleting pages, blocking users, and changing site settings. The wiki does not take on new sysops very often, but you can visit this page for more information on sysops and guidelines for becoming one.
Users gain many benefits over the anonymous contributor due to a more good faith identity. A few of these benefits include having a username, userpage, watchlists, and preferences. Users also gain the ability to create pages, move pages, upload files, and more. Anonymous contributors are identified by their IP address, which can change frequently, sometimes making it impossible to indentify or contact an anonymous contributor.
Your username applies to all wikis hosted by Miraheze, so you can't change your username on this individual wiki without creating a new account. If you want to change your username across all Miraheze wikis, use the global rename request form.
This wiki was originally hosted on Referata, a different wiki farm. On June 1st, 2019, for a multitude of reasons, it was moved here to Miraheze. The page histories couldn't be imported for legal reasons, and many user accounts were left behind. You can see old page revisions by clicking "View archived page" on the sidebar.
