Biography[edit | edit source]

Gfdgsgxgzgdrc (full name Gfdgsgxgzgdrc J. Garbles, also known as Gfd) is an eccentric resident of Free Country, USA. He usually wears a green shirt with a yellow G on it and a bowler hat similar to Homsar's. His appearance seems to be a combination of many characters; his body and legs look like Homestar Runner's, his skin is coloured similarily to Bubs's head, he has Strong Bad's head and mouth shape, Bubs's teeth, and Pom Pom's eyes. His shirt is the same color as Coach Z's body, his hat is the same colors as Coach Z's hat, his "G" is the same color as The Cheat, and the soles of his feet are the same color as Bubs's body. Like many other characters, he lacks visible arms, but can still handle things as though he does. He speaks in an exaggerated voice similar to Homsar or Dooble, and when he talks, his mouth is animated in a similar manner to Strong Bad. His hat jumps slightly when he speaks, and he will flick his head in the opposite direction on certain syllables, a habit he shares with Homestar Runner. He weighs "nineteen pounds or tons", as revealed in the toon Waddlemania.

For the most part, Gfd is a comic relief character, and as a result, he is usually quite unintelligent, forgetful, and untalented. He is not very strong or athletic either, as Honstlar is able to beat him in wrestling without even doing anything. Sometimes, he becomes incredibly smart for a brief moment without explanation, usually for comedy (for instance, explaining the potential results of a temporal paradox in Helmet Quest). The most important part of his personality, however, is his randomness, which makes him almost omnipotent at times. According to him, he "wields the power of comic relief" and "is not burdened by logic or consistency" — his personality, abilities, and other qualities are able to vary depending on what would be funny in the moment, and are often exaggerated to the point of self-parody.

Unlike Homsar and Senor Cardgage, he is capable of speaking normally; in fact, the majority of his lines are completely ordinary and relevant, albeit unconventional and odd. He has a habit of rambling on about random things, or taking ordinary conversations in strange new directions. He also often phrases his sentences strangely. He uses the website's linguistic humor more than any other character, using running gags such as thyme, b/w, and style in nearly every sentence.

In his early appearances, he had a love of food (pizza in particular), but in recent appearances, he seems to enjoy non-edible food items the most. Over the years, this has been exaggerated to the point where his fondness of non-edible food is almost the center of his personality. His eating skills surpass The King of Town's, and he can even eat non-physical concepts. Food is often the highest priority for him, even if he's in a dangerous or important situation. His catch phrases are "Is this [blank] edible?" and "Goodness gravy!". He also frequently talks about sentient donut glaze, a running gag originating in the Broternal Helmet Theater G000 episode "Panda Bractice: The Complete Saga".

His ethics are questionable, as he has been known to rob banks, steal property, break in to places, and use other peoples' credit cards. However, he is not too concerned about being caught, sometimes casually admitting his crimes when the subject comes up in conversation. He is also egotistical, frequently trying to name things after himself (usually by putting "Gfd is Great" in the name). His crimes and negative aspects are not taken seriously, and usually brought up for the humor of the cartoon.

He is good friends with Homsar and his fellow members of the Broternal Order Of Different Helmets. Everyone seems to simultaneously like and dislike him. He has gone on many adventures with the Broternal Order, including saving the world several times and finding magical hats. He is the cousin of Honstlar and the half-half-cousin of Homsar. He also claims to be related to Fhqwhgads, but this seems to be a blatant lie.

Gfd keeps many useless items in his bowler hat, including objects larger than the bowler hat itself. In Christmas What?, he reveals that he has 7,256 items in his hat (not including nonexistent items or objects that can only be seen in other dimensions), according to a list he had in his hat.

He has occasionally been a director, directing Bubs's food truck/online streaming service commercial in Review Revue, and later the Caleb Rentpayer reboot in Arsene the Asinine. He is also an actor, as he portrays Dangergsgxgzgdrc Johnson in the Dangeresque film series.

GFDGSGXGZGDRC: {interrupting} Hello, peoples of Free Country USA! I am Gfdgsg... Gfdgsgxxg... {stuttering} Gfdgsgxgzgdrc? {sighs} You can just call me G-F-D. Or maybe, "that guy with the name that nobody can pronounce and takes really long to say unless you say it really quickly but if you are saying his name really quickly then you probably aren't pronouncing it right". Wait. Is that longer? {thinks for a moment} It doesn't really matter. So anyways, onto myself. I like drawing, {as he says this, he holds up a paper, draws, and holds up a majestic self-portrait} and animating, and pizza, and things, and other things, and not things. Also, I'm pretty much the smartererest guy ever. I mean, I know, like... three. And even three minus! I can... jump, and...

STRONG SAD: I think we're out of film.

  • He has never appeared on homestarrunner.com. He has only appeared in unreleased or BODH-exclusive toons.
  • Gfdgsgxgzgdrc's name was created by typing randomly on a keyboard in April 2010.
  • His personality is almost the opposite of his creator's, although this was unintentional. According to the creator, Gfd has evolved to embody the creator's sense of humor, rather than the creator himself.
  • In early cartoons, Gfd is shown to have talents for drawing, animating, and coding. However, this seems to have since been abandoned.
